McCormick Barstow’s Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith Litigation Practice Group is widely recognized as among the most successful practices of its type in California, Nevada and Ohio. The practice provides a range of litigation and non-litigation services to insurers, risk financing entities, and other interested clients on local, state, national, and international matters. The Practice Group handles matters involving all types of insurance including casualty insurance (both first party and third party), errors and omissions insurance, professional liability insurance, EPLI insurance, Workers Compensation and Employer’s Liability insurance, D & O insurance, reinsurance, excess insurance, life, health and disability insurance (including ERISA claims), title insurance, cyber insurance, crop insurance, product recall insurance and many other types. The Practice Group also specializes in drafting of insurance agreements, memorandums of coverage and endorsement forms. Members of the Practice Group provide advice and opinions and in litigating declaratory relief, extra-contractual and inter-insurer actions. In doing so, members of the Practice Group regularly appear in state and federal trial and appellate courts on behalf of parties and amicus curiae. Many have handled a variety of complex coverage cases, including claims involving hundreds of millions of dollars, some of which involved thousands of parties.

In both 2022 and for many previous years, McCormick Barstow’s Fresno office has more insurance coverage specialists (5) recognized as “Super Lawyers” by Super Lawyers magazine than any other firm in Northern California (namely Dana Denno, Kevin Hansen, Gordon Park, Tim Sullivan and Jim Wagoner). In 2022, McCormick Barstow’s Fresno office also had more “Rising Stars” in Northern California (3) recognized in Super Lawyers magazine than any other firm (Nick Rasmussen, Graham Van Leuven and Maria Valencia). McCormick Barstow also has the only insurance coverage specialist, Jim Wagoner, who has ever been recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers in Northern California. In California, members of the Practice Group provide service throughout the entire State, including in the urban centers of Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento as well as jurisdictions outside California. Through its offices in both Las Vegas and Reno, the members of the Practice Group in Nevada likewise serve the entire state of Nevada as well as other jurisdictions. The members of the Practice Group in Cincinnati, Ohio provide services to insurers in Ohio and other East Coast and Midwest jurisdictions as well as in California and internationally.
