Ms. Grames joined McCormick Barstow’s Las Vegas office in 2023. She concentrates in Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith Litigation and Professional Liability Defense with an emphasis in Medical Malpractice litigation.
Cheryl A. Grames
Ms. Grames has defended large and small insurers in Nevada since 2012, in both state and federal court. Her practice encompasses all stages of litigation, from inception through appeal. Ms. Grames has also counseled insurers regarding coverage issues and disputes as well as pre-litigation issues that may be resolved short of a lawsuit. Ms. Grames’ experience also includes defending healthcare professionals and facilities in malpractice and negligence actions.
Prior to practicing law, Ms. Grames taught American History at UNLV after relocating to Las Vegas in 2001 from Rhode Island. She was a daily commuter to Boston where she worked at the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, overseeing federal employment and training grants in Vermont and helping to implement the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

Ms. Grames is admitted to practice law in the State of Nevada, in the United States District Court of Nevada, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the State Bar of Nevada.
Community Involvement
Ever-grateful for the education she received at the Boyd School of Law, Ms. Grames frequently volunteers to judge BSL competitions and enjoys providing meaningful summer clerkship opportunities for BSL students.
