Mr. Knapp joined McCormick Barstow’s Fresno office in 2019. He concentrates in Insurance Coverage issues and Litigation.
Mr. Knapp represents clients in high-stakes commercial litigation in state and federal courts, specializing in insurance coverage and insurance-related disputes. He has significant experience representing carriers in liability coverage litigation involving CGL, E&O, D&O, EPLI, and homeowners policies, including representation of excess and umbrella insurers. He has defended major auto carriers in high-exposure consumer class actions. He has prosecuted insurance fraud actions, as well as complex, multi-party subrogation actions. He has advised major liability and property carriers on regulatory issues, and advised clients on insurance portfolios, risk-management, and self-insurance. Prior to joining McCormick Barstow, Mr. Knapp practiced insurance coverage and insurer class action defense at major Bay Area law firms. He also served as a Visiting Professor of Law at the Boston University School of Law, where he taught International Law, Insurance Law, and Constitutional Law.

Mr. Knapp is a member of the California and Massachusetts state bars. He is admitted to practice in the Ninth Circuit, as well as in the federal district courts for the Northern, Southern, and Central Districts of California. He is a member of the Fresno County Bar Association and the American Society for Legal History.
