FRESNO, CA (February 18, 2008) -- McCormick Barstow attorney Lowell T. Carruth has announced his candidacy for the State Bar of California’s Board of Governors.

If elected, Carruth would represent the 5th District of the State Bar of California, which encompasses Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Monterey, San Benito, San Joaquin, Santa Cruz, Stanislaus and Tulare counties.

Carruth is a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a founding member and first president of the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of ABOTA, was named the ABOTA Trial Lawyer of the Year for California in 1997, and has held all of the offices in the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1982.

Having practiced law in Central California for more than 45 years, Carruth has experienced the many changes affecting California’s business and legal environments. “Given both my legal and practical experience, I believe that I am well-qualified to represent District 5 as a member of the State Bar of California’s Board of Governors,” Carruth says.
