MARSHALL C. WHITNEY ADMITTED TO AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRIAL LAWYERS

Fresno, CA (April 16, 2013) – McCormick Barstow Sheppard Wayte & Carruth LLP is pleased to announce that Marshall C. Whitney has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (the “College”), one of the premier legal associations in America. 

 

Marshall C. Whitney is a partner in the Firm and has been practicing in Fresno for 35 years.  He is an alumnus of Hastings College of the Law.  His practice emphasizes business litigation and legal and accounting malpractice defense.  Mr. Whitney is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated with Martindale-Hubbell, was selected for inclusion in the Northern California Super Lawyers (2005-2012), and was selected as a Top 100 Attorney (2009-2012) for his primary area of practice in Business Litigation.

 

The induction ceremony at which Mr. Whitney became a Fellow took place recently before an audience of approximately 615 persons during the recent 2013 Spring Meeting of the College in Naples, Florida.  Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada.  Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only, and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.

 

Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years of trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.  Further, membership in the College cannot exceed more than one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province.  There are currently 5,879 members in the United States and Canada.  The College strives to improve and elevate the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the trial profession.  Qualified lawyers are called to Fellowship in the College from all branches of trial practice, making the College able to speak with a balanced voice on important issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice.
